Looking for a specific freeware computer game? I downloaded it long ago from http://www.shareware.com/ and it was real nice. Now I cannot find it anymore. It was a 3D fantasy arena fighting game, where you could buy different characters, which were paperdolls basically, not 3D (barbarian, paladin, archer, monk, bard, druid and others...) to fight agains monsters in an arena. Each character also had a special ability (archer had fire arrow, fighter taunt I think...) and you could also pause the game with space, which reminded me a lot of D&D games like Baldur's Gate. How to play an old computer game on windows XP? I used to have this game on my old computer called One Must Fall:2097, and now its freeware online. So I went to download it, but after downloading it and everything, it just leads to a black DOS screen. I'm assuming its a compatibility issue. Does Linux/Ubuntu work with high-end computer games? I am currently building a computer, and I am rather fond of much of the freeware that Ubuntu comes with (firefox, open office, etc.) and I don't really want to shell out $100-300 for XP/Vista. This caused the file to restart another time. But then it screwed up again, but i just stopped it. Now I have two "setup" files for this game on my computer but they don't work, and when I right clicked and pressed delete, it said it could not because something else was using it. Programming. Computer Science Related Question (compare?)? Ok so for a long time Ive really been interested in computers related stuff. I have a A+ (computer maintenance cert) and during highschool i tool alot of other computer classes. Anyways... First of all something that has intrigued me but I havent done a whole lot of is programming. The most ive done is games in BASIC (On my calc...) and Visual Basic.. so nothing that anyone else cant do.. (o and I know XHTML and CSS pretty well) Ok so recently ive wanted to create games on the computer.. like lil freeware style games.. so im teaching myself Python. Is that a good place to start? I also intend to use it for its web framework once i get good enough, and from there learn ruby + rails since its similar. also ill probably have to learn php, mysql ect. and javascript... and if I want to create better stuff (games programs if i enjoy programming... which from my experience i do :P ) learn C# and/or Java i just feel like this is so much to learn or maybe im trying to over burden myself =/ As of now im working 60 hours a week till my second year of college starts in the fall, and as of right now im planning on being a business major. So.. As i learn 1 or 2 programming languages will i learn the others much much faster? Is it dumb of me to be pursuing a business major? Way to monitor bandwidth of each computer in wlan? Hey everyone. There are three computers connected to the wlan - two desktops and one laptop, all via ethernet. Someone has been playing an extensive online game and I think that's why the other two computers have had internet problems. I'm currently making a computer game, and have reached a point where I'm so sick of my own "place holder" graphics that I need some real talent to help me out. What I need includes (measurments are in pixels): 32x32 character sprite (the character is a made-up creature that's a bit of a cross between a fary and a dragonfly) NPC characters of varying sizes and "species" Interface graphics and buttons re-creations of symbols I invented for the game world's writing system, made to look like it's drawn on an old pamphlet of some kind; preferrably yellowish And, the grand finale, images for comic-stlye cutscenes through the game. The main character has just hatched, thus begins the game. However, the character is also a sort of vampire variation of it's species, so it needs to be frail yet determined-looking. The game is a game of survival and society; of discovering what you want to live for and whether or not where you come from will affect who you are now. Game progression is based around learning what the written symbols mean by unlocking chests that have a symbol paired with a picture that "translates" it, so these images are vital. I tried to use Sonic CD/DVD burner and it keeps stopping in the middle and saying there is an error (sometimes acting as if the disk is possible full but these are new disks- nothing on them). I tried a couple of different files, and kept having this error. 2. Then i tried to copy and paste through windows explorer and then to write the files onto the dvd, but windows explorer said there was no "writable" disk in the computer, yet i had an empty/blank DVD RW inserted. 3. Then i tried JetBee CD/DVD burner and still had errors for both files 4. Finally i tried Infra Recorder and (like some of the other ones) it was going well for a while but then it had some error. Is there a freeware program that will record the sounds your computer speakers are making into an audio file? I'm trying to record the BGM of a game. A regular sound recording software won't work very well if at all. It loses quality going from the speakers to the mic, and most programs reduce the cound the computer makes from the audio file because it assumes you don't want them. Also, is there a program what will do this AND record what is showing on your screen at the same time, to make a video file? I have a program that will do this, but it doesn't record what the speakers are doing, just what I input into the mic, like a narration.

Is it legal to sell a computer game developed using Microsoft Excel? My husband created a popular games' scoreboard that eliminates the need for paper and is a lot of fun. It is created in Microsoft Excel, therefore eliminates the need for paper, computes scores and has many possibilities including the use of avatars and sound to make it fun, and therefore marketable online. I am aware I cannot use the games' logo's or title. It is a game up to four (three computer players optional) on a marble board, the goal is to "attack" opponents by jumping your coloured marbles over theirs to score a kill. Knowledgeable Drag Racing Person? I am creating a drag racing game for the computer (freeware) and I was wondering if anybody here would be willing to explain the crucial things necessary on drag racing cars (not dragsters or funny cars, but just strait up muscle cars like on Pinks). Possible Solution to Problem - yahoo games error message old version in my cache.? Hi I have been working on this problem for some I believe the problem doesnt lies in the browser but in yahoo server. My reasons for believing so is a bit of experiment i did. I normally use firefox which started giving me above error after some time. No matter what i used to clear my cache ( manually and available freeware programs) the message wont go away. I then tried to access yahoo games (chess) with internet explorer and opera and still got the same error although i had never played yahoo games on them before proving that the problem didnt lie in the cache of these browsers. I believe this error has something to do with yahoo server remembering your computer using some form of identification like your IP address or some other techno stuff.(please note this is normal for games sites and has nothing to do with privacy issues). Now The solution that always works well for me but may not work for everyone is (1) Disconnect Internet (2) Close Browser (3) Reopen browser while internet is disconnected and clean browser cache. (4) Close browser again (5) Reconnect to Internet (6) Restart your browser and u can now connect and play your yahoo games Any way the reason i put this solution as a question is to see if it works for anyone else and if someone has any other ideas and anything to comment about it. Computer problems, some real help would be nice,? Ok, sweet and simple, my computer got some hardware malfunctions after I had it repaired. When I had it repaired I bought a new motherboard, and re-installed Windows XP. Now these are the problems that come up: 1. My computer CPU Fan is running insane, at roughly 6000+ RPM, it NEVER ran like that, it ran at around 1000-2000 Max. Ive tried freeware programs to change the speed (Speed Fan or instance) But it does nothing. If someone could give me directions on how to manually change the fan speed from my System controls that would be really appreciated, this is my biggest problem. 2. Starting up my system I get a black screen telling me: "Highlight the selected choice of operating system" And there are 3 choices, Windows XP Home Edition, another Windows XP Home Edition, and Windows Recovery Console. If someone could tell me how to get rid of this screen, or better yet, tell me how to delete the other choices would be grand. 3. Final problem, while im running Windows, I get a message from Windows Installer, it pops up continuously, and disapears in half a milisecond. NO this does not have anything to do with software failing to install, so don't even write me that crap, this is something else, its just a small tab labeled: Windows Installer, and like I said it pops in and out rapidly, this makes it almost impossible for me to play fullscreen games, seeing as how my screen in minimized every second for a stupid message that disapears in and out. I wonder if this community has some help in it actually, I would like an answer besides buy something, or a link to a website that wont help me. I need to know how to MANUALLY fix these things. Its like the 3rd time ive asked this question, no one helps me.
