Once he is familiar with where to find the different organs, it will be easier to explain its functions and how it is related to the other parts of the body.
The use of the jigsaw puzzle can be a very effective approach to teach children with different learning capabilities whether your child learns fast using visual aids, oral instructions and actual experiences.
This is a perfect aid for children who prefer visual information. The puzzle will depict an image and will have the children’s imagination working. They will think of a piece that will fit perfectly in the empty space of the human body. For example, if they were able to successfully fit the liver to its actual location, then the children will easily remember it because of how the image is registered to their memory. The children will then be interested to the explanation why it is placed there and what are its functions.
Educational jigsaw puzzle is also a useful tool for children who learn better with actual activities. Since it is interactive, these children will have the chance to actually fit the pieces of the puzzle. If they commit a mistake of attaching the part, they will easily remember it since they have the first hand experience. It will also be fun for them to mix and match the different pieces until they got it all right. They will easily remember where the parts were placed correctly and would less likely repeat their mistakes.
It is also helpful for those who easily comprehend with verbal explanation. Using the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle, you can give the children description of where to put the missing part. You can say that the heart is located at the left potion of the chest. You can also include the other parts that they have completed with your instruction as well like the colon is found right after the small intestine and help them as they listen and follow your instructions. Once the children have completed the puzzle, you can reveal to them their different functions and other information they need to know.
